The TransMedics® Organ Care System (OCS™) (available at KFSH&RC)

Limitations of cold ischemic preservation imposes significant logistical challenges to heart transplantation that keeps a donor heart beating. Transmedics is an ex-vivo perfusion device that permits maintaining for long time the donor heart beating. OCS PROCEED II trial (2010-2013) showed similar short-term heart transplant follow-up after using it in 130 patients.
